US Passport return time

passport.jpgLast Monday we went to the passport agency at the local post office to get Michaela a new passport. I wanted to make sure it would be ready for our trip in early July, so I expedited it and had it sent back overnight. The results: it got here today – in 8 days.
I figured others in similar situations might want to know how long it gets to process a new passport.
Now, for the sad part – THEY DID NOT RETURN THE OLD PASSPORT! Yeah, the one she got when she was 6 months old, with the cutie-pie picture!!!!! That just sucks!

Lotions de-emulsifying!

For some reason it seems that the lotions I’ve made several weeks ago are separating – as I squeeze them out of the container, water comes out! This has happened with two separate bottles of lotion, made at different times, from different ingredients. I don’t understand why it’s happening now. My concern is, of course, that the lotions have gone bad or are going bad. How can you possibly know when a lotion has gone bad? I’m afraid that the perfume would mask any off-smells.

Camila has no hair

Yesterday I made the mistake of letting Camila stay at her friend’s house under the supervision of her friend’s 16 yo brother. This is what happened:

Yep, her little friend chopped off her hair! I had the back evened out, so it’s OK from the back (just very short), but there is nothing we can do about the front/top šŸ™

Shop at Walmart? Lower your credit limit.

I just heard a teaser on TV about how shopping at the “wrong” store can lower your credit limit. That definitely peaked my interest, so I googled around and found this segment of Good Morning America on exactly the issue: A guy with a stellar credit history gets his Amex credit limit slashed by $7K because he shopped at a certain store. Apparently, customers that shop at such store tend to not pay their credit card bills, so Amex is assuming he will behave like them. Amex won’t say what the store is – but the only “new” store at which the guy shopped was Walmart, so we can reach our own conclusions as to where Amex doesn’t want you shopping.
Now, I hate Walmart as much as the next person (just watch the Walmart Movie and you’ll know why), but give me a break!
Amex is not the only company that has done this – another one was fined by the FTC for reducing the credit limits of customers who went to marriage counselors and auto shops (I kid you not!). I have to admit that I barely pay attention to our credit cards, but I will start to do so now! This behavior is ridiculous.
Here is the Good Morning America segment from last January:
